The scholarship was won by the Rio Algom Blue Team which placed first in the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) National Metal and Nonmetal Mine Rescue Contest Aug. 28 in Dallas, TX. The scholarship award will be based on the candidates academic excellence, special talents, and leadership qualities exhibited in school andor community activities. The candidate must also be intending to continue his or her education as a full time student in an accredited university, college, technical, or vocational school. Application forms and detailed guidelines for the scholarship award are available at the student counseling departments of Moab and Monticello schools, or they may be obtained from Bill Francom, Team Trainer for Rio Algom Corporation in Moab. Deadline for submitting applications is Feb. 10, 1981. The scholarship may be awarded to one or two candidates and the winners) will be announced on or about March 15, 1981.
