The report documents refinements in the Bonneville Unit plan that have occurred since 1964. It also serves as an informational base for the ongoing public review of the unit requested jointly by Regional Director Barrett and Utah Governor Scott M. Matheson. National Weather Service forecasts of a long and healthy winter in the west are apparently on target. The phenomenal snowstorm of Wednesday, October 18, dropped 32 inches of snow at Snowbird Ski Resort in one day. If the storms continue, many more of Utahs ? resorts plan to open early. Barness later moved to Salt Lake and started his river marketing business. The High Desert Adventures is specially designed to help sell river trips; it is not a competing outfitter. Mr. Barness and a business partner acquainted the Chamber to his company through a slide show and presentation. The rivers in Utah are underdeveloped and undersold. The rivers have the potential to become as well known out there as our skiing has become in Utah, commented Barness. Mrs. Horn brought her mother, who was visiting from Michigan, to the Chamber meeting. Jim Sarten also brought a visitor, his father, in Little Snowbird Ski Cottonwood Canyon. Snowbird currently reports a total of snow depth of 43 inches. Reports from Park City verify winters arrival. After Mondays storm, Park City Ski Area reported two feet of snow at the top of their peaks and between 4 and 6 inches at the base. Snow at Park City Ski Area totals 32. Although nearly all churches will celebrate this historic occasion on November 18th, a few have chosen another Sunday for their observance. Whatever the day, worship services will be central to the observance. Many churches are also organizing other outreach activities around the event, so that the surrounding community may get the message too. That message has to to with the translation and distribution of the Scriptures throughout the world, the always pressing need to supply growing churches and missions as well as individual believers overseas with copies of the printed Word of God. In' many places there are acute shortages of printed Scriptures, yet people are asking more and more urgently for them. At the same time, congregations will pause to give thanks for how richly they and other Americans, in contrast, are blessed with an abundance of Scriptures today. The focus of Bible Sunday this year is on four countries. They are India, Mexico, Kenya and Zaire. Each one is calling for special help to fulfill the promises they have made, on faith, to supply their own people with Gods Word before the year is out. India, for instance, has programs that call for Scriptures in over 100 languages. Mexico wants to supply refugees from Guatemala with copies of the Word. Kenya and Zaire have vigorous programs of evangelization requiring the Scriptures as well as needs to supply growing congregations with Bibles and New Testaments in local languages for worship and Christian education. ABS top executive Alice E. Ball points out that almost 80 percent of the entire worlds people must still look to the Bible Societies as their main or only source of Scriptures. With the global population now well past the four billion mark there is much to be done, she says, and that is why it is so necessary for Americans to honor and support Bible Sunday. 'I wildlife.
