Betty Dravage gave a presentation on cancer, after which envelopes for a cancer drive in April were distributed. Alpha Rho heads a local cancer campaign each year. A friendship tea for all sorority chapters in Moab, Monticello and Green River, hosted by Omega Rho of Moab, was held Thursday, March 17. Entertainment for the groups was provided by Sounds a vocal group from Grand Grand, County High School. Yvonne Hawks was hostess for a social meeting of Alpha Rho on Thursday, March 24. Ernie was bom Nov. 27, 1910, at Haypoint, Minn., to Bert Ellsworth and Lucy Baldwin Foust. He is survived by four brothers, Ray Foust, Bovey, Minn.; Dave Foust, Grand Rapids, Minn.; Walter Foust, Wadena, Minn.; and William Foust, Randley, Colo.; two sisters, Nina Foust, Wadena, Minn.;, and Mable Foix, Bovey, Mum.; two daughters, Lois Andren, Mesa, Ariz.; and Rebecca Finkle, South St. Paul, Minn.; and five grandchildren. Interment was at the Castle Valley PallRiver Ranchos Cemetery. bearers included Ken Johnson, Bill Kulisek, Steve Kulisek, Lowell Miller, Gene Montague and Tony Wanzeniak. Ernie enjoyed a full life, working at a variety of occupations beginning at the age of 13. He recalled once that rather than face disciplinary action from his father, he left home and hooked up with a lumber mill, driving a team of four horses and a sled loaded with logs. He made the round trip from Haypoint to Hill City, Minn., in one day for $2. He cut timber, worked in a maple camp, and rode logs down the Mississippi River, all before the age of 16. In 1936, Ernie was the top money winner in the rodeo circuit, but an accident in the chute one day forced him to retire from the rodeo and eventually caused the loss of his left . leg. He also purchased a tractor and backhoe and did construction in the valley. Ernie certainly left his mark in the valley and will be long remembered.
