Michele Mobley as Mabel, one of the major general's nine pretty daughters, sings with operatic finesse which is especially impresis if has launched a sparkling production of The Pirates of Penzance that entertains from beginning to end. Thin on plot, with far more fluff than substance, this Gilbert and Sullivan operetta is brought to life with a winning combination of characters, choreography, comedy, costumes and colorful sets that transport the audience to a carefree place somewhere in the Victorian past. Directed by D. Terry Petrie, no small feat in some songs, such as the one which requires the major general's rapid-fir- e delivery.
