Forgers Of late hate n a gang of railway ticket forgers have havo been operating In Kansas City with wiLls evident success JI M H I C Townsend general passenger and ticket agent of tIme Missouri railway who has Imas been Investigating tine the matter Is quoted concerning these forgeries ah as follows The losses of the thie western railroads will amount to thousands of dollars There have been three classes of forgeries Some Borne days ago It was wan dis dla discovered covered that n a bogus perforating stamp hash had been used treed to Imitate tine tho stump that Is used to mark tickets at the Union Depot TIne The second class of o forgeries Included conductors train chocks checks The Tho bogus ones are arc fairly good Imitations of the ones but they have havo smooth edges Instead of per perforations Wholesale frauds have been committed by using forged contracts which are exchanged for tickets Wp have no means of knowing how hiow many bogus livestock contracts and conductors train checks have been used I know that lint hundreds of fraudulent lent contracts were printed hero here In Kansas City We have evidence to show that a Kansas City ticket broker knows something about the forgeries We have engaged an additional force of detectives and hereafter conductors will weLch watch carefully for forgeries
