J : ..W.-- p..., P.G. annexation request tabled until water problems solved By JOHN BEST Herald Correspondent A PLEASANT GROVE request to annex 17 acres of county land into Pleasant Grove has been postponed until developers can provide a better way to supply water to the area. The property is located at the east end of 200 South in the foothills and stretches north to 250 North. tv - ci.i.i- e.u ueveiuper xvevm ouiierneiu, representing two other partners, told the council earlier this week an engineering report shows a booster system coma supply water to a pro development on posed the steep foothills east of Pleasant Grove. Randy Drummond, city engineer, said the booster system would probably work, but the developer's intended source of water isn't adequate. The current plan wouldn't provide either adequate water or water pressure to meet state requirements, Drummond said. Drummond also said a test model developed by Horricks Engineers shows current city systems couldn't supply adequate water because of pipe sizes and current demand. City Attorney Tina Peterson said when a city annexes property, it accepts liability and - 'I "I suggest consideration of annexation approval be continued until the city can be on firmer legal ground." Mayor Ed Sanderson : 1 e responsibility to provide city services. She cautioned council members to solicit an agreement for the supply of adequate water from developers before annexation is approved. 1 suggest consideration of annexation approval be continued until the city can be on firmer legal ground. The ability to provide water is the real issue here, and we need to look real hard at this issue," said Mayor Ed Sanderson. He suggested developers talk with other property owners on Lie east bench who wish to develop their property and discuss a plan that would provide adequate water. Research into that plan would be the responsibility of the developer, since they are the ones who stand to profit from development, Sanderson said.
