In competition with nine other high schools at Stevens Henager Business College, Laura Burnham took third in business English; Chad Cox, fourth and Jeff Olson, fifth, business math; Nicole Draper, third and Caroline Burnham, fourth, keyboarding I; Elizabeth Young, fourth and Melinda Wright, fifth, shorthand; and Chad Cox, sixth, word processing. At the State Future Business Leaders of America leadership conference in Salt Lake City, where over ,000 students participated, Laura Burnham placed 10th in keyboarding. Justin Willden, Tyler Donaldson and Ryan Newman received blue ribbons for drafting house plans. Zacharv Barr, son of Richard and Sally Barr of Spring City, recently received an award for w inning the kindergarten level of the Southern Region Arbor Day poster contest, sponsored by the Division of State Lands and Forestry. Barr. a student at Spring City Elementary School, traveled to St. George with his parents where he received a blue ribbon and a S50 savings bond for his poster which illustrated the 1993 contest theme, "Trees are Terrific... for Shelter and Animals." The Moroni Lions Club has donated $5,000 toward a proposed baseball park project. At the April 28 city council meeting. Lion Perry Blackham asked Mayor Larry Freeman to read a memorandum of understanding between the Moroni Lions Club and Moroni City stating that the Lions Club w as making the donation only for obtaining property andor constructing the baseball park. The city w ill have three years to legally commit the money or return it along with accrued interest. In the event the Lions Club is disbanded, tjie city will have to transfer the money to the Moroni LDS Stake Church. VEGETABLE JUICI Lynn Walk of Manti has been accepted as a member of the American Hereford Association (AHA), according to an announcement by H.H. Dickenson, AHA executive vice president. By becoming an annual member of the AHA, members pay an annual fee and are able to take advantage of the many programs to further their own breeding programs as well as the Hereford breed. Some of the membership benefits include a reduction in service fees, access to performance records information, voting privileges at all association meetings and involvement in many Hereford activities. The Gunnison Valley FFA Chapter recently held its annual banquet at the high school. Guest speaker was Dix Monroe, president of the Utah Beef Improvement Association.
