Show A Thursday, September 10, 1992 The Daily Herald Optimism flees business execs - WASHINGTON (AP) Optimism about the economy among business executives has waned, according to a new survey by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. The group's bimonthly business index confidence unemployment claims increase in August First-tim- e while a reading of 70 or higher indicates strong growth. "The poll results ... reflect the continuing inability of the economy to rise from recession," said Lawrence A, Hunter, chief economist of the chamber. "We expect the situation to continue at least through the end of the year with little improvement next year and the distinct possibility that things released Wednesday dropped from 64.2 in June to 58 in August, the lowest level in eight months.
