He was a 1990 winner of the Young Artists competition, being chosen to solo with the Utah Valley Symphony for the school concerts. In the same year, Michael was named a winner in the Junior Division of the Utah County Farm Bureau Talent Find. In June 1990, Michael was chosen to perform at the Intermountain Suzuki Institute's String Recital in Logan. He is an A student at Orem Elementary School, plays competition soccer, and enjoys reading and baseball. Samuel Reed Dastrup is the son of Max and Claudia Dastrup of Orem. In 1989 he was a participant in the Suzuki Strings of Utah Pacific Northwest Tour. He is a member of the Utah Valley Youth Symphony at Brigham But Fboto courtesy of Young University. Samuel enjoys reading, basketball, soccer, baseball and running.
