In Pensacola, Fla., only 18 inches of rain have been recorded so far this year while the normal is 34 inches. In Atlanta, Ga., 16 inches of rain have fallen so far this year compared to a normal of 29 inches. A long dry spell continues in southern California as well. Los Angeles ended up its water year on June 30th with the driest period on record. Only 1.9 inches of rain have been measured since Jan, 1 while the normal is 11.4 inches. In normally dry Palm Springs, a mere .07 of an inch of rain has fallen since the beginning of the year. The long-teraverage is 3.25 inches. Honolulu, Hawaii has had a dry year as well with only 2.68 inches of rain falling since Jan. 1. The normal is 9.41 inches.
