Show White bass fishing good UIE uidii L.cme Thursday, February i i 1 II THE HERALD, Provo, Utah, Page E4 15, 1990 r w i3 & Jm By REX C. INFANGER Herald Correspondent UTAH LAKE: White bass fishing has picked up at American Fork - i .and Provo Boat Harbors. Fish a twelfth-ouncsilver Kastmaster e tipped with a wax worm. Move around until you find the school. Be very careful on the ice. LAKE POWELL: The upper end of the lake has been the best for fishing. The stripers are down 30- - to and a piece of anchovie on a lead head jig works the best. Berkley's new Maxie Thin Line is a good choice to use when fishing for the stripers because it allows you to use a thinner diameter line and still have a lot of strength. This means that a 10 pound test line has a sink rate of a six to eight pound test line and makes the bait look more natural. JOE'S VALLEY RESERVOIR: If you like fishing for trout through the ice, this is the place to go right now. Fishing has been very good. Fish a Kastmaster or a Cripple Herring tipped with minnow meat or Pink Berkley Power Bait. MILL MEADOW: Fishing has picked up and some nice trout in the two pound class are being taken. Fish a double rig with Berkley Power Bait and Velveeta on size 1C trebles. Use a small bell sinker to take the bait to the bottom. PINEVIEW: Both crappie and perch are being taken with white or chartreuse tear drops. Tip the lure with a wax worm. : NEWTON: Fair fishing for seven to perch. Chartreuse tear drop tipped with wax worm has been working the best. ' CAUSEY: Fair fishing for pan sized trout. Use worms or Velveeta and Balls of Fire combination. BEAR LAKE: The cutthroats have started to move in on the cisco spawning beds and fish up to five pounds are being taken. tipped with minnow meat are a good lure to start with. GREEN RIVER: Good fishing all the way to Little Hole. Use a San Juan worm or an orange-brow- n 60-fe- et Kast-maste- rs U m if m r57 PROVO RIVER: Good fishing above Deer Creek for white fish. Use a light green latex caddis with a small split shot 18 inches up from the flv. DEER CREEK: Perch fishing has slowed down a little and the perch seem to be less congregated. A treble hook tipped with perch meat is working fairly well. South and west of the island is a good place to start fishing.
