Since then, she has appeared with San Francisco Opera as Suzuki, Mercedes and Orlofsky, among others. Last season she sang in the world peremier of Argento's "The Aspern Papers" at the Dallas Opera. Ms. Bruno made her debut with Glimmerglass Opera Theater as Hermia in "A Midsummer Night's Dream," followed by the Mozart "Requiem" with the Honolulu Symphony. She won the American Opera Auditions in 1982 and 1983, the 1983 G.B. Dealey Competition, and the 1988 Opera Index Competition. Bass, James Butler previously appeared with Utah Opera as in the 1984 production of "Faust." For "Rigoletto," he will e. sing the role of the assassin, Butler received his formal vocal training at the Philadelphia College of Performing arts where he studied voice with Franco Igle-sia- s, and was also at the American Institute of Musical Studies in Austria. He has appeared in principal roles with the New York City Opera, New Orleans Opera, Michigan Opera, and Opera Columbus. Butler was a featured artist on the PBS telecast of "Placido Domingo: the Tenor, The Teacher." Local Utah Opera singers will fill the supporting roles in this product tion. Clayne Robison, who most recently appeared as Crespel in "The Tales Of Hoffmann," will sing Monterone; Don Becker's most recent roles with the Company are Antonio in "The Marriage Of Figaro" and King Melchior in "Amahl & The Night Visitors."
