Frank Gerrish brought the writhing plant to life with his powerful voice and personality. directors Edward J. Gryska and Mark Huffman for the Lagoon Opera House production of "Little Shop of Horrors," a campy musical spoof of a laughable '50s horror movie about a plant. :: ?Little Shop of Horrors" is Set in the '60s on skid row :where business picks up when a failing florist's shop displays a p type rapidly growing plant purchased by the bumbling assistant from a Chinese wholesaler during a total eclipse of the sun. (Breath! ) The production has a comic book quality and is played with enthusiasm and man-eatin- flair. The cast at the Lagoon Opera House had talent and electric energy. J. Alan Brodine proved particularly appealing as Seymour, the unappreciated assistant, playing him more as innocent, earnest and completely without than as the nerd of the Broadway and movie versions. g self-estee- fly-tra- car-toon- His songs were especially well done, but he threw a few of his away that night. As for the chorus girls, Chiffon, Crystal and Ronnette, played by Rebekah Folsom, Kitchell Jones and Kori Ramsey, let it be said that they definitely know how to deliver a song. The '60s hair styles and one-line-rs m Karen Nielson as Audrey gave a consistent and humorous performance as the ditzy florist ethnic-lookin- plant. miaou until August 26, it would be well to go as soon as possible.
