Afghanistan government shows cache of weapons -KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) The government displayed a huge cache of weapons it said Moslem guerrillas intended to use in attacks on the capital today, the ninth anniversary of a revolt in Kabul against the d regime. The Foreign Ministry took foreign reporters to the headquarters of Khad, the government's secret police, where it had lined up the wide array of weapons on several tables. Many had markings from the United States, Britain, Egypt, Sweden, China and Italy. Officials said others were made in Pakistan, where the most powerful rebels groups are based. According to Moammad Omar, a state security agent, the weapons were seized Monday in a well in eastern Kabul. He said agents captured three guerrilla sympathizers who had confessed to planning to use the devices to attack government buildings and markets around the city today and Wednesday. The guerrillas hold most of the countryside, while government troops control major cities. The 1980 revolt occurred two months after Soviet troops intervened to bolster a Marxist government in Kabul. Soviet Soviet-backe- soldiers fired on Moslem protesters who emerged from their homes shouting "God is cut-o- ff point. "Deaf mutes, sick people also become soldiers," the report said. "Schizophrenics, epileptics are also not rare." .. "Everybody in my country fills in the draft form the same way," said one illiterate soldier when asked why he claimed to have a high school education on his draft card. "We fill it in as we wish. And whatever we say, that'll do for the truth." AP Laserphoto Chinese Peoples Liberation Army drill unit passes in review in Beijing, China. Rushdie, born into a Moslem family in India, now lives in Ixindon and is a British citizen. The novel was first published in Britain in September. Sweden, although not a member of the Comwjn Market, recalled its ambassador from Iran today. Foreign Minister Sten Andersson said Sweden also will cancel a visit bv a trade delegation scheduled for next month unless the death threat against Rushdie is rescinded. The European Community's foreign ministers, at a meeting Monday in Brussels, Belgium, decided to recall their country's ambassadors for consultation at Britain's request. Prime Minister Hussein of Iran called the EC action a useless maneuver certain to harm the European Community rather than Iran," IRNA reported. He said it was "the Western countries which need to win Iran's favor, rather than the other way around," the agency said. Mu-sa- had a super experience Hin2 to LA. on the Murdock Shuttle. Gorbachev found out Monday in Kiev, the republic's capital, that the dangers of nuclear power are still very much on the minds of Ukrainians. In a street encounter broad- cast by Soviet television, an elderly woman asked Gorbachev why another nuclear power plant was being built in the Crimea. The area contains some of the country's most popular beach resorts and is home to 2 ; million people. Gorbachev said he was aware of worries about the plant's safety. He also said American specialists who helped plan nuclear power plants in earthquake-prone Japan had been asked to study the Crimean facility. "Construction is under way," Gorbachev said. "But if the conclusion (of the specialists) is that it is not advisable to build a station there, then it will be ' turned into a training center for personnel, not an atomic power station." He assured the woman that the government now takes a cautious approach to nuclear power. " People Prefer the Murdock Shuttle! "...
