Police Wives Protest Husbands' Low Pay - Dozens of JERUSALEM (AP) demonstrated wives policemen's Tuesday outside Israel's Parliament, demanding bigger paychecks for their husbands and accusing the government of forcing them onto the welfare rolls. The protesters' husbands, who are banned by law from demonsome strating, stood by silently on crowd control duty in case the protest got out of hand. Batya Shloni, a representative for the wives gathered outside the Parliament building, said about 500 policemen, had applied for welfare salasupplements to augment their ries.
