SALT LAKE CITY (UPI) -Western Airlines has requested permission from federal regulators to provide direct service from Salt Lake City and Phoenix to the Mexican resort towns of Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta beginning Oct. 27. The flights will originate in Salt Lake City and stop in Phoenix before going on to Mexico, the airline said Thursday. The airline has asked the Department of Transportation for a decision on the proposal by Aug. 1.
