Last year the two teams had a combined record of 21-- 2 and finished first and third in the polls. The Hurricanes lost coach Howard Schnellenberger to the pros, but return quarterback Bernie Kosar, receivers Eddie Brown (who had 30 catches last year) and Stanley Shakespeare (who caught 34 balls) and defensive stars Reggie Sutton and Ken Calhoun. Auburn, meanwhile, will be led by halfback Bo Jackson, who is being touted as a Heisman Trophy candidate. Coach Pat Dye, who spent time as head man at Wyoming before heading to Auburn, can also call on defensive tackle Ben Thomas and linebacker Greg Carr, who n have received some mention.
