Show I'aie 18 - THE HERALD. Prove, Uuh. FRIDAY. 7 :o, jsM A 'Goofy' Label Goof for Kids Utah UPI - The time was when decent fcik s OGDE.N. t could be forewarned of a package s unseemly content by its plain brown wrapper. But not any more. Even the most pure of wrappers has lost its innocence. Patricia Put's disgust can attest to that: Mrs. Pitt recently stopped at the Video America Shop in one of Ogden's shopping centers, hoping to find a video cassette movie with which to amuse her children. attracted to one bearDisWalt of the ing depictions She was ' ' Y, ii -"-- ney cartoon character "Goofy." But she was later to find that what a package "bears" on its label has little to do with what it "bares" inside. And in this case what it bared was not raucous laughter but human adults. The movie under the innocent label was not a Goofy adventure at all but a steamy little adult epic titled, "The Nine Ages of Nakedness." Mrs. Pitt said the movie depicts acts similar to those displayed in the pages of this month's Penthouse magazine, of specifically the photos Vanessa former Miss America, Williams. If you haven't seen them, you'll probably get the idea anyway. But before she knew the content, Mrs. Pitt had taken the cartoon cover for granted and given the cassette to her children, telling them to have fun. About 40 minutes later, she said, her oldest child, age 6, came up from the basement recreation room to ask when the cartoon would begin. Mrs. Pitt is naturally not too happy about the episode. "I'm upset that they'd even have that sort of thing there (in the store). I didn't think it was legal," she said. Sheri Rolf cries as she looks at casket of her husband, who was killed in Vietnam many years ago. This coming week, the U.S. is going to try to find more bodies of MIAs of the Vietnam era. Joe Harvey, commander of the Joint Casualty Resolution erly upon by the two sides in September of 1982. Debbie Flint, owner and manager of the Video America Shop, is not happy either. She said she never intended to rent such a cassette. Mrs. Flint said the film was apparently mixed with her stock when she bought the store. She said someone must have rented the "Nine Ages of Nakedness" and the Goofy movie for the It will include other representatives of the JCRC technicians from the Armys Central Identification Laboratory. SMITH, Hawaii A team of American (UPI) technicians will meet with Vietnamese officials in Hanoi next week for the first time in more than a year to exchange information on U.S. servicemen unaccounted for in Indochina, military spokesmen said Wednesday. A spokesman for U.S. Pacific Command headquarters said the American team will be led by Lt. Col. Center. Army Maj. Terry McCann said 8 mark the the meetings Aug. resumption of a series of quart 15-1- technical meetings agreed After that meeting, McCann said, the Socialist Republic of Vietnam repatriated the remains of nine Americans and "provided material evidence" regarding three others. I have children of my own, and we certainly wouldn't do anything like this intentionally." Mrs. Why Some Foods Hurt Stomach By Lawrence Lamb, M.D. DEAR DR. LAMB - I have a bad hiatal hernia and also ulcers. Do you have a diet that I can follow? Some people tell me I should not eat any lettuce, celery or cabbage or any things that are fibrous. My doctor told me that salads should not bother my hiatal hernia at all. I would like to know what you think. I just came home from the hospital a week ago because my hernia was bleeding into my stomach. DEAR READER Many doctors do believe that if you have an ulcer, that you should not eat fibrous material. The roughage is thought to be hard on the ulcerated area. Your bleeding from a hiatal hernia may mean that you had a small ulcer in the lower esophagus because of the chemical irritation from the backward leak associated with your hernia. When the stomach herniates through the hole in the diaphragm, there is often an associated backward leak of stomach contents into the lower esophagus. This may cause "heartburn." This area, like the duodenum outside the stomach, is not n against the acid - well-protect- con-Wi- tents of the stomach. But I don't think a reasonable amount of salads or bulk will harm your esophageal irritation or ulcer. It is more important to take measures to neutralize the acid from your stomach and to follow a lifestyle that minimizes any backward leakage into the lower esophagus. It is important to eat small meals and to give your stomach time to empty before lying down. And you should be propped up to minimize any leakage of stomach contents. Your last meal of the day should contain very little fat. Fat slows stomach emptying, and you want your stomach as empty as possible when you lie down. Of course, you should avoid foods that irritate your stomach or those that increase acid production. Coffee, tea and colas are often offenders and should be avoided. So should alcohol and cigarettes. - DEAR DR. LAMB My problem is that I am oversexed. I am 76 and have a good heart and normal blood pressure. Usually my wife and I keep our sexual relations to once a week, but at I get the urge after two or three days. Would such frequency be detrimental to my health? DEAR READER Whether it is detrimental to your health or not may depend on what your wife thinks about it. Frequency varies widely at all ages. Often one partner is more interested jn sex than the other one. That can lead to conflicts that are resolved when each person considers the other's needs. From a health point of view, there is no way that having sex more often could be harmful to you if you have no problems in having relations once a week. You prove each week that your heart and circulation is not adversely affected by it. Many healthy people your age have sex more often than once a week. Even after a man has lost his ability to have sex for any number of reasons, he doesn't lose his desire. It becomes a situation of the mind being willing but the flesh is weak. Unless you develop some medical problems I wouldn't worry about it. Enjoy life and your times - marriage. at Bridge How to Keep an Entry Stronger By Oswald Jacoby and James Jacoby The playing strength of the South hand increased dramatically when its long suit was supported. Although the South hand had many losers, when North raised to two spades, South carried right on to game. North would have accepted a game invitation anyway, since his raise was based on prime values spade king and the K-- of hearts. The deal emphasizes the first rule for declarer play: Plan the play at trick one. Doing so should lead South to the right road to 10 tricks. Many deals involve postponing drawing trumps, usually so that dummy's trumps can be used to ruff losers. Here the 'reason for not playing trumps immediately is to retain an entry to dummy's good trick in a side suit. After winning the ace of clubs, South led a low heart to dummy's king, West ducking. On the lead of a low spade from dummy, East played low, and declarer put in the nine. Although this is not the way to take all six tricks in spades, it is a safety play against East's holding all of the outstandnot a completely ing trumps unlikely holding in view of the takeout double by West. Declarer now played another heart. West won the ace and continued clubs, but the contract was home. A minor suit loser was discarded on dummy's good heart and South made five spade tricks, two heart tricks, the ace of diamonds and the of clubs for 10 tricks. A careless play of the spade king at trick two would have led to disaster, provided that West had ducked the first heart led toward dummy. Cascade Fitness Centers, Inc., owner of the proposed Plados' World in Salt Lake City, filed a lawsuit claiming city officials deliberately stalled their decision on whether to issue business licenses. Salt Lake City officials denied the licenses Wednesday. City License Assessor John Katter told Plado attorneys in a letter that the proposed spa violates zoning, building, housing, fire and health codes. For example, the letter said, part of the property is zoned for residential not commercial use, and the clothing-optionspa is only blocks away from several schools and churches. The letter also said an investigation by the City Attorney's Office shows that the owner of the proposed spa "has committed, or intends to commit, various illegal acts as a part of its business operations." The "illegal acts" include running a house of prostitution, allowing people to appear naked in a place of business, failing to apply for licenses to operate a massage parlor and rooming 3 2 WEST Flint's explanation seems to clear up the matter. One question remains, though. What sort of person entertains a range of pleasure that spans a scale from Goofy cartoons to the "Nine Ages of Nakedness"? house, and giving city officials false information in applications for business licenses, the letter said. Cascade has the right to appeal the license denial. A hearing would be conducted and a hearing officer would make a final recommendation to Mayor Ted Wilson. Cascade officials were unavailable for comment, however. Cascade made an unsuccessful attempt last month to get U.S. District Judge David Winder to issue a preliminary injunction so the spa could operate without a business license. The lawsuit is pending, however.
