Utah. 10, 1984 Thursday, May Average U.S. House Costs About $84,000 DES MOINES, Iowa UPI) -The price tag on a typical family home in the United States runs about $84,000 for an existing model or $98,000 for a new house, a Better Homes and Gardens survey shows. The semi-annuhousing cost comparison survey, released this week by the Better Homes and tK M MM SM.MO 1 sot 7. borhoods in 100 communities across the country. It found resale home prices ranging from $35,000 in Oil City, Pa., to $217,000 in Vail, Colo. The average cost of a resale family home in the 100 communities was $84,013. For newly constructed homes, the average cost was $98,409. Gayle Butler, a spokeswoman for the company, said the ratio of resale homes sold to new homes sold was or 2.7 million to 625,000 in 1983. She said more than 450 Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Service members were polled for the survey in March 1984. From the responses, 100 communities were selected to represent different populations and regions. The survey seeks the cost of a single-famildetached home in a desirable neighborhood with about 1,600 square feet, three bedrooms and two baths. - DES MOINES. The rock map was found in 3,000-year-o- snow-me- lt man-mad- e Snow Canyon State Ancient Map Park, about 30 miles from where the men believe the gold mine may be located, Hansen added. Hansen, a member of the Society, a group devoted to interpreting ancient writings, said he believes the rock map shows the gold is in the Virgin River Gorge about 10 miles south of St. George. The rest of the symbols point to a pit about 35 feet wide by 40 feet long, he said.
