In the commentary section of the Aug. 30 Utah Journalism Review, the publication criticizes a decision by Joe White, KBYU-Tgeneral manager, not to air the final segment. A statement issued on camera the night the segment was to run said, "it did not meet tha standard of accuracy set by the station." The station broadcast two segments dealing with homosexuality locally and in Utah. The third part.which dealt with the problem at the university, was cancelled by White because, he says, station officials did not believe two persons interviewed who said they were homosexual BYU students were credible sources. The two students' faces were not shown during the interview, and they were not identified. White's reasons were questioned by Kevin Mitchell, the KBYU reporter who did the story, and Louise Degn, V ager believed sensationalized the Mitchell said the story included interviews with homosexual BYU stu"I didn't want their faces shown dents who tell of their experiences at because if they were caught, they the Mormon-owne- d aired. university.
