Show Can Home Hoop Teams Pull Prep Upsets Again? By JOE WATTS Herald Sports Editor Is the home court advantage going to be a big factor in Reresults gion Four basketball ihis year? In the first week of play the home team won all four games, and in three of those garres the home team was considered the underdog. The question this week is: "Can the heme teams continue In their upset roles?" Of the four games scheduled Friday night the home team is favored in only one instance. Lent will be the only home team favored, and they ilon't hold a very solid edge over Springville. Orem, Payson, and Pleasant Grove will home court upset-- minded haj advantages against their opponents, but will still be playing in underdog roles. Provo will be at Orem, Carbon at Payson, and Spanish Fork at Pleasant Grove. The analysis: game-by-ga- This is Prove over Orem one of the most crucial games of the week. Orem needs a w in over the Bulldogs to stay in the running for the league title. Orem is capable of an upset and it could be one of the most exciting games of the season. The prediction: Provo by nine points. Lehi ovtT Springville Last week the Pioneers were favored and lost and the Red Devils were expected to lose and they won. This week the forecast i's the same, and the results might be the same too. There is one difference Lehi is pla ing at home and it will be mighty strength toiiRti for the Red Dvils to pull an upset on the road. The home well-hone- established themselves as a major title contender last week teams won all four games last week and Lehi is looking forward to playing at home. Springville's big problem will be matching Lehi's stiength on the boards. If the Red Devils can control the boards another upset win might be chalked up by the Springville five. Prediction: Lehi by five points. Carbon with an impressive upset win over Orem. The 83 point production indicates that the Dinosaurs can shoot the ball, and Payson will have its share of defensive troubles Friday night. Payson had a first round bye and so this game will be tiie first league encounter for the Lions. Payson Is not expected to win, but they are hoping the home floor will prove as advantageous as it was last week. 83-7- 7 oxer Payson The Carbon Dinosaurs hot shooting THURSDAY, JANUARY UMh NCAA Delegates Decide to Curb Disobedient Athletes Big Sky Hoop Race The prediction: Carbon by seven points, Spanish Fork over Pleasant Grove.
