There were 41 fire alarms re the month and ceived during $1,962 in loss sustained. In September of 1967 there were 35 fire calls but damage amounted to $14,710. Tne ambulance of the Provo Fire Department responded to 68 calls for assistance during the past month. A report from Fire Chief Stanley G. "Our employees carry proper Identification and will be happy to produce it whenever asked," laid J. W. Allen, vice president, marketing and distribution. "In no case would an employee attempt to collect money on behalf of the company without first establishing his company Identification. "Should any person have a question about an employee'i Identity, we suggest a call be made to our nearest office to obtain verification. We are anxious to provide whatever assistance we ran to prevent fraudulent activity by unscrupulous persons posing to be our rcpre- sentatives." WtL Provo. Businesses Inspected Firemen inspected 15 busj-- . nesses during the month and - carried out eight special inapections, while it investigated the one fire in the home that was damaged. During the month of Septem- ber firemen held 14 classes on artificial respiration, four class- es on use of fire extinguishers ' and one class on home escape f, planning. Three firemen attended a four-da- y seminar on initial emergency care and transpor-- . tation of the sick and injured In Denver, Colo., two went to tiie annual demonstration for ; protection of bulk and gasoline storage plants in Salt Lake City, five were in attendance at the course in cardiopulmonary resuscitation in Salt Lake City, and two participated in a two-daconference on safety in Salt Lake City. Chief Brown also attended the Western Fire Chiefs Association conference in Las Vegas, wev. Ambulance crews answered 68 calls, compared to 48 for the same month of 1967. These calls Included 60 in Provo City, four in Utah County and four to Salt Lake City. The ambulance calls included 20 to transfer patients, 19 to ac-- i cidents, 14 for illnesses, five for Iniuries. four for nprsnns whn! bad fallen.
