Show (I Lakers Bereaf Bucks For BYU Runners Nearly Double Lobos Score By WENDELL RIGBY Herald Sports Writer Brigham Voung Cougars 4 win d romped to a over New Mexico in a dual track meet held in the Cougar Stadium Saturday afternoon. The Cougars were expected to be strong in depth, but the Lobos were generally favored to take the majority of first places. This did not hold true, however, as the Cats scored 10 first places to eight for New Mexico. 100-5- one-side- The Cougars swept four events, the steeplechase, the shotput, the discus and the three mile run. The Lobos capitalized on a pair of double Henderson in the two sprint events, the 100 and the 220, and Chuck Steffes who was tops in the long jump and the triple jump. Henderson had to put on his best showing of the year to beat Cougars had five entries and they all finished. The two Lobo runners dropped out. In the mile relay the Lobo lead off man took a two yard lead with a driving finish over BYU's Bill Stadelman. The margin was increased to six yards by the second runners, but Steve Young cut the lead to three yards, and Mark Low was only a step behind Kenth Ohman at the finish. Ketcheson and Redfearn gave the Cougars future hopes in the century as Ketcheson stepped the 100 in 9.9 and Redfearn was only a couple of steps behind in :10.1. Allen Judd, Cougar 880 runner, was only a step behind Reid Cole with a time of 54.9 and Marl Low could be a possible successor to Ralph Mann with his :53--2 in the 440 hurdles.
