Tfce aid aalmal control - The AMERICAN FORK American Fork City Council has given Councilman Bill Pierce the on a feasibility study for a new dog pound. According to Mr. Pierce, the present pound has crowded, unsanitary conditions, and needs individual pens, larger quarters, and cement floors with facilities for washing them down as well as better fencing. The pound has a dirt floor and an outside fence which is a little over six feet high and measures about 18x25 feet. The Inner enclosure is a cement block building about U x 12 feet. Dogs are fed from several pans in the inner structure. There are no separate pends and quite a bit of nipping and growling occur at all times, expecially at feeding time, Mr. pierce noted. There is no heat available in the wintertime. Water is kept fresh and available from a faucet that is left running inside the fence. He said the fence is inadequate to keep all the dogs inside and some escape. Some are also stolen. Animal control officer Virgil Adamson agrees there is a problem. He said he cleans the area sometimes twice a day with a shovel and puts fresh gravel in when necessary, but he said it is not the best sanitation.
