Assigned to Guam Neil Hanks, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Hanks of Provo, will be leaving soon for Guam for a tour of duty with the U.S. Air Force. He was recently promoted to the rank of sergeant. Sergeant Hanks is married to the former Donna Miguel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wave Miguel of Mapleton. They have been living at March Air Force Base in Riverside, Calif., for the past two years. Mrs. Hanks will be making her home with her parents while her husband is overseas. She is hoping to be able to spend part of the time in Guam with her husband. Baxter, both of Orem, have received their private pilot licenses upon completion of the AFROTC flight instruction program at Brigham Young University. Cadet Baxter is the son of Mr. and Mrs. David W. Baxter of 195 E. 1600 N., Orem, while Cadet Duke's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Wayne C. Duke of 194 E. 1000 S. They received instruction in weather, navigation and civil air regulations at an approved flying school. Both are 1969 graduates of Orem High School. Payson Man No. 1 III of Payson, fireman apprentice in the U.S. Navy, has been assigned to the Hodge Nunnelly Provo Recruiting Station for 10 days as a result of finishing No. One in his recruit company. Upon completion of his recruiting duties, he will have 14 days leave prior to reporting to his next command. Upon completion of a leave with his parents, he will report to Great Lakes for the first phase of his training.
