The commission Monday repealed an ordinance which permitted taverns and clubs to operate the rooms until midnight. The decision came after tavern operators had requested that they be given an extra hour, until 1 a.m., to operate the rooms. The request to outlaw the rooms came from Sheriff's Department vice lieutenant Nick Morgan, who said the rooms, in many cases, have been hang outs for illegal gambling. SALT LAKE CITY (UPI) -The cold spell which has hit Utah in the past two weeks has put a cramp in the Salvation Army's annual Christmas Fund Drive. Covert said the cold weather has hampered the kettle portion of the drive, which began with bellringers soliciting donations at about half a dozen locations the day after Thanksgiving. A man calling himself Robert Longbaugh and claiming to be the son of the Sundance Kid surfaced into the news a year or so ago, and died Monday in a Montana hotel fire. Mont. (UPI) -MISSOULA, Aurhorities were to begin searching the smoldering ruins of an old hotel today, convinced they would find no more than two persons victims of a fire which swept through the three-stor- y structure. Dead are Robert Longbaugh, 72, who was known as the son of the famed western outlaw, the "Sundance Kid," and John Schon, who was described by Fire Chief Robert Kelley as simply "elderly and blind." The Priess Hotel, converted in recent years to use an an apartment building in an older downtown area, colllapsed in flames Monday morning in spite of the efforts of a bartender who tried to stop the fire with a pitcher of water before calling the fire department. "I think now it is quite likely we have only two dead," said Kelly. "We have found that one other resident missing and he is alive." He identified the man as James Fay, a student at the University of Montana. Kelly said 34 hotel residents had been accounted for, including a score of young university students, who, Kelly feared, might have had overnight, unregistered guests who perished in the blaze. 1 PAYBACK 102 r Three monthly payments of $34.00 each.
