Show Page HERALD, Provo, Utah, Monday, December 18. 8--THE 1ST2 Region Four Wrestling Slate do well are Alan Myrup at 105 and Mike Last at 119 Of the Salt Lake area Region Four teams Perry Gillette's Granger crew are undefeated with a mark so far and look like the toughest team by virtue of their record and returnees. The Lancers have six veterans back and four are undefeated. The undefeated grapplers are Bob Stanley at 112; Steve Clark, 1265; Lorin Madsen, 155; and Ron Smith at Close behind Granger is Don Neff's Brighton Bengals with a 1 mark. Brighton is always tough and this year Brighton has had to build a team on only three By PHIL SHt'RTLIFF It may seem two weeks early to cast out the old and ring in the new but this is the story as the high school wrestling season begins this week. As with all Utah sports the wrestling has a new look with the realignment of regions and classifications and the new Region Four has only a faint resemblance to the old region. Provo and Orem are the only local teams in Region Four while the other central Utah 0 167-lb- grapplers have become members of region six. In gaining a look at Region Four it appears to be the strongest region of the teams this season. Out of the top ten teams of last season in the old class, four are in the new Region Four. Of the other six this only two teams are in year, and they are not in Region Four. Last year Kearns was third, Provo fifth, Hillcrest sixth and Brighton eighth but this year things will be up in the air as far as success of past wrestling powers. Orem Strong Orem, 21st at state last year, appears to be one of the best conditioned teams so far. The Fred Rowland coached Tigers have only dropped one match (to Cottonwood) and have a fine pre season mark. With four 5-- pie-seas- varsity returnees. Ralph Falentine, whom coach Neff feels is one of the best in the record being state, had a Jeff used at both 155 and Savage, younger brother of Jotl who was a state champ, has gained a tally at 138 while Herb Vost, returree at 145, is 6-- 0 167-lb- 2 Good Potential Hillcrest now has a record 3 forming their base and a flock of good varsity rookies Orem should give any team in the region a worthy fight. Mark Hancock, up to was third at state and is as is Kendall presently Jolley at 105. The Tigers have two other outstanding men, both of whom are undefeated. Doug Turner at with a tally and Erwin Steele who is at 6-- 0 0 119. The first Region Four match this Wednesday is Provo at Orem and it should be one of the best of the season. Provo is rolling along like it usually does with an enviable 1 mark. The Bulldogs just dropped a match to Olympus as they appeared flat but have won their five other matches by good 5-- n margins.
