The monument is situated next to the pony express marker. Col. Cooke was commander of the famed Mormon Battalion, commander of the Johnson's Army cavalry and was the last commanding officer of Camp Floyd. He remained with the camp until it was closed out 100 years ago. A grandson of the colonel; who bears the same name, will be present for the ceremonies.
