Jja25 2t A young man named Nephi McLean was arrested yesterday on a charge of embezzlement of three shot guns, two from Mn Ifeusser, and the other from Mr. Thomas Carter. He hired the guns last Wednesday lor the ostensible purpose of going hunting, and was to return them the day following. As ho failed to do this, the proprietors began looking the matter up, and it finally dawned upon them that they had been mads the victims of a fraud. At their instance, McLean was taken into custody and restored ona of Ueiisser's guns, which he had left at a house in the 16th Ward. Mr.Ca.r- tor's gun was found at Madmen's second hand store, where McLean had pawned it, and tho remaining weapon in the possession of a gentleman in Tark City, who McLean states, took it from him by force, McLean was arrested at the Turk yesterday and broug'it to the city last evening. While he was in the pDlice court this morning, Mr. Wm, Grillith3,a butcher of the 11th Ward, came in and identified him as tho in dividual who on Tuesday last receive ed six dollars from him in advance in part payment for six "fine fat sheep," which tit a seller agreed to deliver on fie Thursday following.
