Tho Faatest Train in the CountryThe Reading Railroad are making arrangements to soon put on their road the fastest in this country. It will be run between New York and Philadelphia, and it is proposed to go the entire distance between the two cities in 90 minutes, exactly a mile a minute. As the ordinary locomotive is not, in many respects adapted to this high rate of speed, the company h.ive had one of a peculiar pattern built especially for the train. Its driving wheels are Gi feet in diameter and are without the usual connecting rod, those being regarded unsafe for such speed. Its weight is 8,400, or about 1 ,000 to 1,500 pounds more than the ordinary passenger engine. As the entire distance is to be made without a single stop, even to tak e water, a tan k capable of holding 4,000 gallons in connected with the tender of the locomotive. The time made by the train will be thirty minutes better than was ever run ty the fastest train on any roads in this country.
