The druggist did as requested, and Youngblood left. He than went down to the barber 6hop on Fifth street, and bade some acquaintances there farewell, but they, supposing that he was drunk, took little or no other notice of him Chan to laugh at him. Uo then went te the Boardsley House, where he had, until a day or two Bince, been employed, and again meeting some friends, bade them eoon BTI. He approached Mr. leno, the head waiter, who had discharged him for drunkenness, and thanking him for his kindness in the past, stepped to one side, took up a glass, poured into it the entire contents of the five ounce vial which he had purchased from the drug store, awd remarked "this is roa hi I" He then drank the potion to the drees, and told those around that they would not . IE! Bill ALITB The emDloves fancying that he was trying to play a drunken practi cal joke upon them, didnotfe! ai all alarmed, particularly M he sat down to the supper table and com' menced to eat immediately there after. Before finishing the meal, however, he sank into what they considered a naturally drunken stu por, and Mr. Reno, after vigorously shaking Youngblood, at last got him onte the platform, and called Officer Pincock. But deceased was unable to sustain his own weight when not supported, and dropped at tiii officer's fibt The bystanders now began to have a glimmer of suspicion that he might possibly have, as he declared a few momenta previously, taken poison, and he was immediately removed to the Globa Hotel, where he again asserted that he had taken Serious Canyon Accident. Last evening about dusk, a serious accident took place in City Creek canyon, juBt this side of the summit, by which two sons of Bishep E. Sheets, of this city, who had gone to the canyon and were returning with a load of wood, were badly but not dangerously hurt. The two boys aged respectively 19 and 12, were on the load comine down the hill, when the horses became unmanageable and started to run. One of the was gon wheels striking a rock, the older boy, who was driving, was precipitated by the jolt into the road, his foot catching in the brake rope as ne ien. The hind wheel passed over the whole length of his body, inflicting severe bruises on his neck; arm and ptf. and be was drauzed along for the distance of a rod. The wagon sped along down the hill, the lines draecine. and the youncer boy cling ing to the load. About a quarter of a mile beyond be jumped lrom the load, and, striking a rock, was thrown back under the wagon, which ran over his richt lee and left foot. The team ran some distance further, up set the waeon and stopped from sheer exhaustion. In the meantime one of the two wagons in the rear had met with a similar accident on the same descent, the driver being thrown off and somewhat bruised On reachinz the scene of the first disaster, one of the later comers re mained behind with the two boys. while the other pursued the runaway team, unhitched them and came en to the city to give information of the accident to Bishop Sheets. It was midnight when the Bishop started back with his carriage for the summit, which was reached about four o'clock. The boys had both been as well attended as possible, but the bandages to the wounds having been wrapped too tightly, their injured limbs were badly swollen. They were brought to town about eight rt'clock this morning, and Dr. Bene diet summoned, who, after examin inff. announced that no bones were broken. The patient are now in a comfortable condition and will no doubt speedily recover. Considering all things, it was a remarkable es cape of the boys from a more serious fate. The occurrence is only one unnni manv that mav be exoected from the present bad condition of the roads in City Creek canyon News, Oct. 1st. Third District Court.
