The maniac then went into another house and frightened a number of ladies assembled there, but was expelled. He was secured while attempting to get into the house of Mr! He traced one of them, a man named Shafer, to Granite, and arrested him. Shafer admits that he witnessed the killing and was with those who did it, but denies that he took any active part in the affair. The shoot ing he says was done by two men, who were the parties suspected by the Sheriff. They are watched, and he left Salt Lake last evening for the purpose of bringing them back with him.
