' rden's delitrhtful Indian summer was broken yesterday by a rainstorm Which brought precipitation of 1.41 Inches. With tb arrival of the storm a downward move the mercury took and registered 4 degrees early this morning. At :30 o'clock the mercury still was falling and had reached the mark. Freezing temperatures or killing frost are forecasted for tonight in the daily bulletin of the United States weather bureau. A continuance of the tonight, but present rain is expected tomorrow will be clear, the report stated. FIRST IX MONTH The rainfall yesterday marked the first since the early days of September. The fall was reported generally over the northern portion of the state. The rainfall will be of much benefit to the crops of the state, particularly if the weather continues warm, according to J- Cecil Alter, in charge of the Salt Lake weather bureau. It has been of considerable help to grazcrops, and has seting lands, to field tled the dust on roads of tlve state. The' fall grains should be aided in the districts visited by the rainfall. Early this morning the mountain peaks east of Ogden were covered with a white blanket of snow, the first of the present season. GOOD FOR CROP Rain that began falling Saturday night throughout the greater part of Weber county will do crops that are in the ground nothing but good according to D. J. Himmon. county pest and crop inspector residing at Roy. In the event that the moisture remaining on beets in piles at the sugar factories should freeze some damage may be done he said. This, he said, was usually taken care of at the various factories in the county- Mr. Ha mm On was confined to his home today with a cold. WATER IX BASEMEXT The fire department was called to store at the corner of Twenty-foWright's urth and Washington avenue Sun day evening at 5:3.0 o'clock and remained there until 11:30 o'clock last pumping water out of the basenight ment caused by the heavy rainfall and the heavy flow of water down Twenty- fourth street. There was no damage from the water, according to the officials of the fire department. - 44-degr- ee - - Two divorces were granted this morning in the district court in record time, to Ogden women.
