French, assistant to the solicitor. emThere are three mining claims braced in the controversy, namely the Blue Jay. Treasure and Treasure No. 1, all of which adjoin the property of the South Park Mining company. On the property of the South Park . Mining company there has been done work of the approximate value of $30,000, not any of which is contested by the forest service and a portion of which work consists of a tunnel driven toward the three claims in question and designed, according to the off icials of the mining company, to develop that' . ground at depth. The" legal department of the forest service contends that no work has been done to date that has shown any discovery of mineral which is necessary under the law before mining ground can be patented. The three mining claims in question are part of the Wasatch national forest. .To determine the nature of the ground Dr. J. D. Lind of the Weber Normal college and J. C. RETURNING EAST Harry Borland, wanted at Boston, Mass., on the charge of passing wortn less checks, was started for the east last night by Police Inspectors Patrick J. O'Neill and T. F. Gleavy of Boston, who arrived here from San Francisco with another prisoner in custody also wanted at Boston. Borland was arrested here recently on a description furnished by the Boston authorities while he was employed as a laborer for the Pacific Fruit Express company. According to the police he has confessed to having also forged the afname of his wife to checks while they ter he had married her and shortly were on their honeymoon.
