Show and comfort of travelers. At the rear of bis large residence is a handsome little grove, and bathers can step frcin among the foliage into the water which slopes gently from the beach, out into deep water. The bottom is silver sand, and bathers can choose a depth to suit themselves. Here ar conveniences for boating, tishiug, shooting and other amusements, and the hills to the west abound in g'ime. Mr. Stock's garden contains fruits aud flowers of va rioU3 kinds, and all kiuds of fine flavored vegetables ia their season, which is a little later in this valley than in the lower regions of Utah. We saw a patch ot (Jlnli wheat in Mr. Stock's field, two weeks ago, over five feet high, all headed out, aud BEAK LAKE ITEMS. contihued Bear Lake is now favored with triweekly mail. a It runs with the Kvuna-to- n fjroatest regularity. Leaving on Mondays, Wednesday? and Fridays at 8 a.m., spring wagons conWoodvey the passengers through ruff and Randolph to Laketown. .Stopping here for the night, they start uext morning at 7 a.m., passing through Swan Creek, Fish Haven, 8t Charles and Iiloemingtnn to J'arlf, where they arrive at 2 p.ui )uring the high water the mails are conveyed thence acron Bear Hirer by Wscbaek to Muntpelier, 15cn-ningto- o, Georgetown, Soda Springs and Cariboo. We have taken pains to enquire and learn that the complaint of irregularly which was made a tew weeks ago at Soda Springs was not well founded. A package containing medicine was detained, as the regulations forbid the passage of iiquids thrugh tho mails, and this gavo grounds for the assertion that people, and we hope to see the time when the Boar Lakers will be in daUy communication with the great world. Paris should have a Money Order office. The people need it, and it would be of advantage to the At present there postal department. is no Money Order office nearer than Kvanston or Logan. Liberty is dear to all. The town of Liberty is dear to a few industrious families vrhe have settled on a spot about seven miles north of Paris, and by energy aud perseverence rendered themselves measurably 'inde pendent. They have a largo quantity of excellent land enclosed and under cultivation, and own a great many head of stock. They have refinished a new school cently wuten is leet, nous?, ouxi finished and painted on neatly the outside. They own a co operative sheep herd, which, during tho past year, netted them a dividend of o3 per cent., after building sheds and corrals and feeding their sheep for several months daring the late hard winter, in which they lost head. The sheep were sixty-fivtaken into the herd at their cash value, shares being placed at $3 per head. Many of tbetn being badly afllicted with scab, they were treated by a slight application along the back from the following; Quicksilver, 1 nitric acid, 2 lbs; butter, 16 lbs tar, 2 qts. This makes a quantity sufficient for seventy head of sheep To the spring, they sheared over six lbs of wool per head. This is a live settlement, and has a live Bishop. E X. Lbirty has more cows than any other town in the Cooperative Dairy Association, aud is a growing, thriv-iubeautiful little place, with a prosperous aud contented people. We would advise our friends in taking a trip with teams to the Soda Springs country, by all means to pass through Bear Lake Valley either going or returning. They will bd well repaid for their time and travel. And we would also recommend that they tarry awhile at Pish Haven. This is a convenient poiut for a resting place, and it offers many attractions to the tourist. It is right on the very edge of the lake, one of the loveliest email bodies of water in tlio world. Mr..
