Yesterday a game in the Ogden Bazaar, occupied by Mr. of base ball was between the ! st fire-cracke- rs Shiells. y that some boys, either seems It or carelessly, threw a lighted fire, cracker into the store, which, in exploding, set fire to about eighty dollars' worth of fireworks exposed for sale. As soon as the alarm was given, Marshal Fife, who happened to be near by, formed a bucket eompany, and the fire brigade, with their usual promptness, ran f the engine, which was on the ground within fire minutes after the first alarm, but before they could do much service, the bucket company, and some brought from the neighboring stores, had nearly put out the fire. Mr. Shiells thinks he has lost about fire hundred dollars worth of goods, not insured, and the show window of the store was blown out by the explosion. It was the opinion of everybody present, that if there had been no water tanks near by, it would have been impossible to have subdued the fire, and the probability is that mest of the stores in that part of Main street would have been destroyed. Our City Fathers were right when they ordered the water tanks to be built, and their wisdom and care la providing for the safety of the city was demonstated again this morning. Where are the grumblers and growlers who have heretofore opposed the outlay of public funds necessary to build these tanks? Let them hide their heads for F. A. wan-totl- shame. Drowxed.
