IEU QR. r VOL VI An T.ady English a Hindoo.Marrying From the Cincinnati Commercial. This social condition &f Iniia has caused a good deal of excitement in relation to a marriage which is to occur in London. An eminent Hindoo is to marry a London beauty. The gentleman in this case is Mutu Coo mara, Swamy. Swamy is a title, aud literally means "God." Queen Victoria has made him Sir Mutu Coomara", for ho is an eminent member of her Majesty's Council iu Ceylon, and has written some Oriental books of high value. The My is a Miss Lily 15eeby, a lady distinguished iu her circle as an artist, but also ns being more beautiful than any picture she ever painted. The Hindoo lirst met the young lady in a company of English people who have long repudiated Christianity, and he being no adherent of any special Eastern sect, they found a basis of religious harmony in simple Theism. .No case of intermarriago between a Hindoo nnd a person of the English race seems to l.ave ever been known before. Old resiJc-x'.of India have informed me that it is absolutely unprecedented and that if Sir Mutu were to take his bride to any part of India, both of them would bo treated by tba whites as pariahs. They all agree that in Ceylon the prejudice against "miscegeuation" will probably be less, and that tho Uindoo' very high rank (h would bo King of Ceylon if Queen Victoria should resign the island) and official position will enable them to tide over the first indignation. ' Hut the agitation the coming marriage has caused in "Oriental circles" in London proves that, anything liko an amalgamation of races in India is not to be contemplated. At the same time Indians are received in the highest society iu Lon don on terms of perfect t quality; tho young ladies danoo and flirt with them as industriously as with others; and it requires the utumsphero of India to bring about the singular exasperation of cate feeling to which I have referred. c Count Valmaseda, the newly appointed Captain General of Cuba, arrived today, and was received with the usual ceremonies. Reinforcements of 10,000 soldiers have also arrived from Spain. London, 11. The bullion in the Bank of England increased 07,000 during the wvek. Lady Morduuul ha beeu found guilty ' of adultery.
