Plt-- Mc Z. C. M. I. COLUMN. Co , Oct. SO, 1874 A grand pic nic dinner party came off at this place on Thursday the 20th inst. An invitation was extended to all in the district, great and small, rich and poor, to participate in the festivities. About two thirds of the families living in the district were present. Two tables the length of the house having been net; at half past ene o'clock p.ui, the assembly was called to order, and the blessing of God invoked upon the food prepared, auit also upon those present, when about lio persons sat down, and did ample justice to the good things before them. Ihe fragments were gathered up and the tables cleared away, the company sat down to a good social chat, with a few songs by way of variety. Lvening coming on. the house was cleared, and all who wished went forth in the dance, and the evening passed oft' quite pleasantly iu dancing, interspersed with songs and recitations, until the small hours of morning admonished us that we must part. But all felt that a repetiiion of the day and night's performance would be beneficial. The entertainment was a perfect. suc cess, old and young enjoying themselves to their heart s content, and nothing to mar their happiness. Great credit is due to Mr. William Stimpson, the pro jector of the party, for the zeal which he displayed in the preparation and carrying it through to a successful termination. The dance was managed by Mr. Mathias llinchcliff. Richard Dye. OGDEN BRANCH.
