OKOIUiK W Ciii-ulHr- of the Buisday troupe, made au as ccnsioti from Woodward's Gardens in i hot air balloon at 4 o'clock, and in making the descent about one hour later, was dueled against the rocks of Rernal llights, und injured to such an extent that his recovery is doubtful, and it is feared that he will never be able to resume the pursuit of his profession. The asceut was made at 4 o'clock, and was probably the finest and quickest ever made upon the coast. Mr. Buislay went through his usual perforuiauce at the p. villion, aud it being the farewell benefit of the Buislay family previous to their departure for Mexico, the place was crowded to its fullest capacity. After the performance the balloon was inflated, and u dog aud parachute attached. At a given signal the rope was cut, and the balloou shot like a roeketin the air, reaching an altitude of about ji thousand feet in a few seconds, wheu, seized by a fierce blast of wind, it was borne toward the IV trero, and iuside of half a minute was a full mile from the starting place. It soon reachtd an elevation of 2,000 feet, when the parachute was released and the dog floated safely to the ground, while the balloon floated for about fifteen miuutes motionless in the air. At about a quarter to 5 a cold current of air was reached, and under its iufluence the balloon began slowly to desceud By 5 o'clock it was diBerual over rectly llights, where it begau to fall rapidly and struck with considerable force. Caught with a stiff breeze it was dragged over the rocks with great violence. Here Mr. Buislay lost eutire control of his balloon, and the repeated striking upon the rocks, and also sweeping through a board fence, so entangled him in the ropes that he became nearly helpless. It struck about ten times upon the rocks before the daring aeronaut became uuconscious, when the balloon again rose, and at a distance of about fifteen feet from the ground he fell, striking upon hisback, and lying as though dead, while the balloon, relieved of its weight, sailed away. This terrible catastrophe happened iu the vicinity of the Glass works, aad near the residence of Mr. McLeich, who, curiously enough, was at one time a professional aeronaut. Rush iug to his assistance, Mr. McLeich found Buislay in a terribly bruised and mangled condition, with no signs of life except an irregular pulsation of the heart. Other parties who had witnessed the accident came at once to the spot, and the sufferer was con veyed to the house of Mr McLeich,.! and medical aid summoned. It was nearly 7 o'clock before the physician arrived and dressed the wounds, which were very severe. Mr. Buislay was immediati ly thereafter conveyed to his residence. A Chronicle reporter visited the wounded teronaut at a late hour last night at his residence, No, 2 First avenue, two blocks from Woodward's Gardens. Upon reaching the house the reporter found Mr. Buislay lying upon a mattrass on the floor, attended e by his wife, who but a few hours the? benefit was dancing gaily at in the Ravillion. The poor man was in a terrible condition. The principal injury was at the back of the head, a little to the right, which was caused by striking against a rock. His spin waa alse so badly injured that his lower extremities are completely paralyzed. His face was cut and swollen, and his body was a mass of frightful. bruises from h. ad to foot. He was able to speak, but with some difficulty, and gave the reporter a brief account of the accident aud its causes. The basket attached to the balloon was the one formerly uted by Prof. Lay, and was so encumbered by ropes and nettiug that one uraccustomed to using it would not be likely to do so with much facility. In addition to this, Mr. Buislay did not have his trapeze with him aa usual, from which he has before been accustomed to drop with petfect safety when within a few feet of the. ground. It is also the rule when landing with a hot-ai-r balloou, to pull a rope, which reaching from , the optfas; haDgs down mouth in a few seconds.
