Mr. Chapman accompanied Mr. llarrell to the room, and, on opening it, the unfortunate man was found lying dead on the floor, wiih the blood flowing out o.'' his mouth, forming a sickly looking pool, and besmearing his face. On examination it was discovered that he had shot himself with a Colt's navy revolver, in the right breast, placing the weapon so close as to singe his clothing, and this accounted for the rep irt not being heard. During Mr. Han-ell'absence he had taken the pis tol from the bottom of his trunk, where Mr. llarrell had placed it for security, strapping the trunk tightly down. Mr. llarrell informed us that the name of the deceased was T. M Vinynrd, that he was about 35 years of age, and came from Elizabethtown, Illinois. lie had worked for Mr. Harrell, who is a stock raiser, tver since the 16th of April 1870, when he drove a herd of stock from Texas, and had been keeping a ranche at Humboldt Wells. He had driven stock for him on several occa sions, and had helped take care of them on the ranche. He had always been faithful, steady and reliable, and as a proof of his estimation of the character of the deceased, he had drawn up a contract to let Vinyard have his stock 1500 head on shares, to give him a chance to make some money. Vinyard had shown Blightymptoms of derangement for two or three days, and had concluded to quit the ranche and go back to the States,' and they had travelled together to the railroad, Vinyard turning back several times, saying he would stay at the ranche, and, on one occasion, attempting to saddle the harness ed horses to ride back. Mr. llarrell e seeing that there was something wrong with him when he settled with him, came on to Ogden, intending to proceed to Salt Lake, after seeing Vinyard safe on the cars for home. Yesterday he paid him off, and thinking he was not fit to be trusted with money, induced him to send $1,C00 to his father at Elizabeth-town- , Illinois. It was forwarded per Wells, Fargo & Co. Mr. llarrell also gave Vinyard a ticket for Omaha, and he bad $39.50 left in his possession. The derangement of the unfortunate suicide wo3 primarily caused, doubtless, by an attack made upon him last summer, at Green River. While driving a herd of stock westward, he was assailed and el ruck' with an axe by a man who wanted his position, receiving two gash, es on the bead, from the effects of whioh he toon apparently recovered. A telegram has been despatched to. the father of the deceased, but as there is no telegraph office within a considerable distance of hia residence, it is probable that some time will elapse before a reply can be obtained An inquest was held on the body this morning, after which the Marshal took charge of the remains, and prepared them for proper interment.
