His duties are of such a charadter as to require his absence much of his time, and his wile and .sister are left alone several nights during the week. His house is somewhat remote from neighbors, and the women being lather timid of have alburglars and sne taken the to ways precautiou go to bed with a revolver beneath their pillows as a safeguard againt molestation. One night last week au attempt was made to enter t ic house, but was frustrated by the barking of a little dog. Last Friday night Mr. Gillen left the house for the- purpose of going out upon a night run, and was expected to be absent for two days. The women locked up the doors and retired to bed soon alter his departure, and were soon asleep. About 12 o'clock, Mr. Gilleu having been changed from his regular run returned to his home, and after trying the front door and failing to effect au entrance, decided upon entering the house without awaking his wife. His effort nearly cost him his life. Mrs. Gil-le- a was awakened by the noise at the front door, and supposing ker husband had left the city, and this was anotlier visit of the thieves of Wednesday night, determined upon resistance. He at once set up a loud cry, calling to his wife and her sister to come out to his aid. He supposed he had received more seriseveral ous injuries. Meantime, neighbors having become aroused, came out just as Mrs. Gillen, terrified almost to death, came to the door and admitted her husband. Au examination of his arm satisfied all that the wound was a slight one. It was dressed and all retired, but there was uo rest in that house that night. When within tight of the train the Indians left him. ltastines left the mill about two hours after Robinson left there, which was an hour after the train had left, and eaw nothing of Robinson, Coleman, or the Indians.
