Avery had a sister named Quinn, who was 2.000 PIECES SPRING PRIITSf well-to-d- o widowed some years ago, and having about 6700 went, to reside with him. Her health failing, she was lodged in a building apart from the family residence, and left to wear away her life in solitude and filth. She died in 1872, and her body was placed iu a box and buried without ceremony. The outrageous treatment of the woman, and the seeming secrecy which attended the interment excited suspicion; the corpse was disinterred, and though there were no other marks than those of gross mid cruel neglect, the Avcrys were indicted for murder , The court held that although the people had shown a brutality of treatment that obviously hastened death, yet no crime had bean committed.
