District office manager Louise Felice announced the UP & L will construct a new $1,000,000 center on a site just north of the Midvale Fire Station. The new will serve 60,000 office customers living within the Cottonwood District. "We simply needed more room," Felice explained. "The Cottonwood District is the second largest in the valley and we had to expand to meet the needs of our customers." The building will house 65 Utah Power employes and will include a drive-itwo-lev- window, business and payment offices, and an auditorium. The 2.6 acre site, which UP & L just recently closed on, will also provide for parking and landscaping. Utah Power could have located the new office those within anywhere boundaries, but, due to the assistance of the mayor, the city council, and city staff in locating a site, decided to stay put. Hit and run driver turns self in Cottonwood Hospital Medical Center will sponsor "You're In Charge," a program to educate children and their parents about sexual abuse prevention. The free class will be held on Thursday, Sept. 6 at 7 p.m. on the fourth floor of the Cottonwood Medical Tower, 5770 S. 250 E. in Murray. Endorsed by the Utah State PTA and State Board of 1M hour the Education, to is grade presented program school aged children and their parents. The class is designed to teach children to be "in charge" when at home, while babysitting or when walking to and from school. A 21 year old West Jordan man voluntarily turned himself in at the West Jordan police station last Friday after being involved in a hit and run traffic accident. Several witnesses watched as a yellow Camaro moving southbound along 2700 W. and traveling at a high rate of speed turned west on 9000 South and rear ended one vehicle; causing it to slide sideways into another car. The driver was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail. No one was seriously injured in the incident. In other action police arrested two juveniles involved in a previous residential burglary where approximately $125 in U.S. coin and currency had been taken. All of the money was recovered. A female employe in a West Jordan grocery store took $400 from her cash register till. She is in the process of making restitution. A residence near 7800 S. 1900 W. was broken into and partially ransaked. A new Coleman lantern was taken in the incident. Police officers suspect that two vehicular burglaries committed Friday are related. Thieves took $180 worth of sporting equipment from a car near 2547 W. 7600 S. and then stole tools worth $200 from a pick up truck parked near 1999 Robin Way.
