Total horsepower is what you will see at South Jordan's horse-pullin- g match. Several teams of work horses, brought from Wyoming, Idaho and Utah, will demonstrate their power. These teams are trained and worked everyday to get them in shape. They are in as good a physical condition as any top athlete. There will be three weight divisions at the South Jordan pulling match. A lightweight team can weigh up to 2800 lbs. A middle weight team can weigh 2801 lbs. to 3200. lbs., and a heavy weight team can weigh anywhere over 3201 lbs. These teams will pull on what we call a stone-boa- t. It is like a sled on which weights are placed. Many times these horses will pull three and almost four times their weight. That is pure horsepower! Years ago horsepulling was a very common occurrence. Over the years this sport was almost lost. It's making a come-bacPeople are finding., it very exciting to see . what these beautiful horses can do.
