Runia exchanged wedding vows on June 14, 1984 at the Heritage House. The bride is the daughter of Merelda N. Smith, Draper, and the late Arnold F. Smith. A reception was held that evening at the Heritage House. A wedding breakfast, given by the groom's parents, Mr and Mrs Gerrit Runia, Sandy, was held at Log Haven. Attending the bride was Anita Smith, maid of honor; Jenny Haase and Valerie Fisher, bridesmaids; Jamie and Kristy Smith, flower girls. Best man for the groom was Mark Brklacich with Gavin Pitts, Brandon Runia and Chad Smith ushering. The bride and groom are graduates of Alta High and the groom is attending the U of U. After a honeymoon to southern ' California the newlyweds plan to live in Sandy. Showers were given by Jenny Haase, Valerie Fisher, Norma Runia, Donna Wade, Dorothy Brienholt, and Mervyns office employes. The groom is employed by I Airbourne and the bride at Mervyns. " j y V .. Jan was born Sept. 29, 1903 in to Netherlands Groningen, Albert Komen van and William Hinderkien Smit' van Komen. Sibbel was born Oct. 27, 1908 to Anee Zoutsma and Tjitske van Sinderen Zoutsma in Ternaard, Friesland in the Netherlands. 48 They have 11 children, 28 and great grandchildren, grandchildren. In 1958 they immigrated to the United States with 6 of their and children, 2 daughter-in-law- s one grandchild. Three of their children had already immigrated to the United States. Two of their children still live in Holland. All 11 children will be here for and Mrs Mark L Runia Cordova, Rasmussen set date Jan and Sibbel van Komen Jan and Sibbel van Komen are the celebration of their anniversary. Their children are Lilian Holland; Huizinga, Siegfried van Komen, Utah; Thea Hiett, California; Sonja Gort, Holland; Erica van Amerongen, Utah; Rudolph van Komen, Washington; Gerda Holmes, Colorado; Immy Marcelis, Washington; Janny Hanks, Florida; Jan van Komen Jr., Washington; Glenn van Komen, Utah. Jan and Sibbel live at 1352 E. Ridgemark Dr.,- Sandy. Both worked for the Jewish Community center for many years. Sibbel was honored for her 25th year of to Jewish service the Center. They are Community both members of the LDS church. Their children thank them for their devoted and loyal love and service to them. Mr and Mrs Jose T. Cordova, are pleased to Midvale, announce the marriage of their daughter Betty to Russell Rasmussen, son of Mr and Mrs Howard Rasmussen, Sandy. They will De married on June 30 at the Jordan Ell Reception A West Jordan. Center, reception and dance will follow. Attending the bride will be Connie Chidester, matron of honor, and as bridesmaids. Deborah Desarae Garner, Rasmussen and Roxsan Fahrni. Diana Garner will be flower girl. the groom are Attending Dennis Chidester, best man and as ushers Donald Cordova, Mike Rems, Kendell Ashby, Greg Garner and Roland Rasmussen. Ring bearer will be Rusty Rasmussen. Russell and Betty both attended Hillcrest High. Showers were given by Connie Chidester, Roxsan Fahrni and KathyWood. They will be making their home in Sandy. Contestants will be judged on scholastic and civic achievements, poise and beauty, swimsuit No personality. competition or talent is involved. Contestants must be between 14 and 18 years of age. She is a student at West Jordan High School.
