You're not alone. The holiday season is also one of the worst seasons for depression, and can be one of the loneliest times for us, even when surrounded by people. Ann Dr. Gerson, psychologist at FHP Health (Family health a Program), maintenance organization, has 10 tips on how to avoid holiday depression. Follow them, she says, and you're more likely to survive the holidays in a better frame of mind. Gerson's tips: Identify your hopes for the holidays. Be the discard honest; unrealistic, work at accomplishing the rest. Don't wait to be inthrow vited to a party your own. Take the initiative. Don't assume everyone but you has holiday plans. Give gifts that are off- - beat and an unexpected give helping hand to someone, or make your own gifts. But don't get hung up on feeling that your presents must be the best. If you will be alone, schedule enjoyable activities you never had time for; attend school choirs, community plays, other public events that you can share with others; visit an orphanage, a center for a neglected children, veterans hospital. You'll have less time to think of do yourself., if you something for someone less fortunate. If you have reason to feel sad, don't lie to yourself and force yourself to be happy when you're not. Share your feelings with friends listen to others.
