Show I Jo to owaD Ouffestiyfle maDiniteDiro South Jordan's master plan policy adopted recently by the city council calls for the "preservation o the single family residential character with an emphasis upon the rural lifestyle." The basic density requirement is 1.8 dwelling units per acre. Variations will be allowed in specific areas implemented by the zoning ordinance. Horses and certain farm animals will be allowed on lots of at least V2 acre. Some small animals may be allowed on smaller lots as a conditional use. According to City Planner Lynn Sharp, Redwood Road will receive the highest priority for commercial development. However, any grant of commercial zoning along there will only be allowed for developments that are to take place in a planned center witn no Jrontage ' directly onto Redwood. Limited commercial development will also be allowed in the area of 1300 West and 10400 South. Any developments would be for low traffic, taking the school into con-- , : .. sideration. The plan shows the West Valley Highway as a major arterial. A minor, 106 ft. roadway, will be built on 9400 South as it develops. Extension of 9800 South as a major thoroughfare is also called for. The road would go over the dam and tie ' into 500 West. The plan was laid out with the idea that the Lampton Reservior would be approved. If it is, Sharp said, there will be no changes along 10600 South. If it isn't, 10600 South could also become a major arterial. 4 Sandy proposes a freeway interchange there which would require the widening. Widening of 2700 and 1300 West and 10400 South is anticipated. As the need arises, 11400 South will also be widened. The newly annexed area to the east will be zoned industrial near y 9000 units South, toward the middle, and 1.8 density near 10600 South. Sharp said that the proposal essentially "gave owners what they wanted .when they annexed." Parks are planned throughout the city according to population expectations.
