Cadette and Senior Girl Scouts joined Girls Open Worlds Encampment held at Camp Williams. May 11, and 12, craft and sand minting gave the girls a chance to be creative. Olympic games of earthball, Indian kickball and baseball drew many participants. The Stingers, a professional volleyball team, gave pointers on the game and taught large groups. A Scout's Own, an inspirational Ceremony, was held Saturday evening. An early sunrise breakfast and flag ceremony enabled the girls and adults to be home for Mother's Day. Mrs Kathy Chapman, director of the encampment, reported that every district in Utah plus Fredonia, Arizona and Ely, Nevada had sent Girl Scouts to take part. Encampments are held every three years. 13. Arriving by bus, car and even bicycles, each girl hiked a quarter of a ' mile with gear to barrack housing. Adult volunteers supervised the ten kitchens that prepared meals and snacks. Everyone took part in clean-u- p capers.
