The requirements for medium density are 3.5 lots per acre. This zoning is planned in large land steepness of the slope of the hill. Commercial and industrial zones surround the West Jordan Industrial Park. Smaller commercial pockets to serve residential areas also exist in the older section of town. There is also one near the southwest corner of the city. Plans call for another equestrian park just north of 9400 S. and east of the Bingham Highway. The area around the present equestrian park would also be used for horse related recreation. sections bordering the north and south city boundaries . Although not shown on the map, Mayor Edward R. Lee says multiple units are allowed in one 90 acre section and may be allowed in in planned unit developments commercial areas. The plan is designed to be flexible, but not allow so dense a population as to greatly raise the cost of services, he says. West of the far western low density residential area is a large agricultural area. The dividing line between the two areas is a railroad track owned by Kennecott copper Company. According to Councilman Clifton Treglown, the land to the west has several advantages. It will be located closer to the eventual city center as the city expands. Also, since it is centrally located, a new fire station could be built there. The property being considered contains about 10 acres and would be large enough for a civic center. overcrowding in the present city A Boise Cascade home has been temporarily attached to the back of the present building. However, it is not a permanent solution, both because of aesthetics and because the city council wants to eventually build a civic center, Councilman Clifton Treglown says. For months now the council has been exploring various possibilities. Several people owning undeveloped land to the west have been approached about selling or trading their land with the city. The council has also considered building on to the present city hall or building on property the city already owns. Right now, it seems the options have narrowed to two. "The city needs an 80 acre park like we need a 150 acre park," he said. The city has another large park being built now and many small parks around the city.
