Brighton's individual statistics read as follows: Francis was two for five at the plate with 3 rbi's, a home run to his credit and two runs scored; Van Cott was three for five with one rbi and two runs; John White was one for three with three runs and one rbi; Rich Gruber was one for three with a single rbi; Mclntyre was also one for three; Dave Featherstone was two for four; his brother, Ed Featherstone was one for three; Kelly Stafford led all batters as he was two for three with four rbi's and two homers. Watts was zero for three in the batting department; and McCleary was zero for in Hillcrest High School's baseball team got back on track last week by picking up a pair of victories, while track continued strong and tennis showed more improvement. Friday's contest with rival Brighton turned into an offensive slugfest, as Hillcrest got by the Bengals one. The Husky track team was again visited with good fortune in the past week, winning a duel meet with Kearns and placing fifth at the big BYU Invitational Track Meet on Saturday, 15-1- Modtl "This game had some of the wildest hitting I've ever seen," commented Hillcrest coach Don Gust afterward. In the intermediate hurdles Jack- son and Samuelson finished higher and in reverse order with Samuelson taking first place in the time of 42.1 with Jackson second. The sprints were not as good to Brighton, however. Provo won both the 100 and 220 yard dashes and placed men in the top two places of the 440, as Mike Christensen took third for Brighton. The long distance events proved to be more successful. Brighton's Berrett managed a second in the mile, while teammate Tony Anderson won the 880 yard run in the time of 2:01.9. The Bengals John Reid and John finished one-tw- o in the two mile event, the winning time was 10.21.7. Of the three relay events, Brighton's team of Hallesten, Anderson, Wade, and Christensen in the mile relay took home the only first in those events. Provo won the 440 and medley relays. There was some very tough competition in the field events as well. While Provo nailed down the two top places in the long jump, At Provo on Saturday Laura Jensen soared 5'8" with fellow Bengal Shelly Mclntyre second to win the high jump for the Brighton team. Brighton's only high finisher was Pam Crocket in the mile run, where she placed third. Brighton had 24 points to Hillcrest's and Logan's 18. Provo, West and Panguitch all had three points. Tennis for Brighton proved to be not everything Tennis the Bengals would have liked. Although Brighton on trounced Granger Tuesday, Friday Hillcrest came through to nip the Brighton netters 4-- 1 3-- Fred Currier, number three Brighton's playing singles, was the Bengals only loss against Granger as Currier fell Chris Spackman won in two sets and Mark Ingels 6-- 6-- 6-- 6-- 0 rounded out the singles competition with a victory. 6-- 6-- 3 Brighton's White jumped 18'6" to take third. David Griffins won the mile with teammate Tod Lloyd chasing him for second. Russ Behrman led a Husky sweep of the two mile run with Kevin Struthers second and Mike Potter third. The field events were also good to Hillcrest starting off with a sweep of the high jump led by George Dem-erie- s in first, Ryan Olsen second, and Curtis Crew third. Olsen gained another second place medal for his finish in the long jump. In the javelin the first two places went to Hillcrest's Mike Osman and Rob Stowe, while in the shot put David Dansie and Ralph Wilks finished second and third. Saturday was both a good day and a bad day for Hillcrest's trackmen.
